Morrisons charity golf day raises money for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance

On Thursday 7th June we hosted our Morrisons Solicitors annual charity golf day, in aid of our Redhill office chosen charity this year, the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance.

We were fortunate enough to maintain a day of dry weather, with the sun coming out periodically over the beautiful and picturesque views of the Reigate Heath Golf Club.
After registration and breakfast baps concluded, our 10 teams went out on to the course to get ready for a shotgun start and their first 9 holes of golf. The first half of the day was judged on an individual stableford score, so the competition was rife.

As lunchtime rolled around, we put on a delicious BBQ buffet and provided our guests with an opportunity for a break and some drinks in the club house. The atmosphere was brilliant and very relaxed, as everyone took advantage of the opportunity to network with other professionals and businesses. Before the second 9 holes commenced we held a putting competition for charity, which was great fun and tested the distance control and precision aiming of our ‘golfers’.

The second 9 holes commenced and this time was scored on a best 2 out of 4 stableford system, which meant the essence of team spirit was back in full flow. As the day drew to a close, our guests arrived back at the club house for further canapes and drinks as the scores were tallied and winners were announced. Congratulations again to the following:

  • Our first place individual Thomas Cullum-Cina (Ralph James,) who took home an annual flexible Reigate Heath membership and a Morrisons gift crate, as well as runner-up Phil Hunt (Handelsbanken). There was only one point in it!
  • Our winners of the team event in the afternoon, with Dimitri Constantinou (Presentation Solutions), David McGuigan (Limbo) and Matthew Hearsum (Morrisons Solicitors) again winning by one point to earn themselves a pro-shop voucher each and a Morrisons goody bag.
  • Our very own Graham Halsall (Morrisons Solicitors) outdrove everyone to win the longest drive, while Doug Pescott-Frost had the accuracy to win nearest the pin. We also mustn’t forget the winner of the putting competition Alex Reeves after a tense final play-off at the end of the day. Enjoy the golf balls and wine!

Ultimately the main aim this event is to raise money for our chosen charity, which this year was the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance. This is a fantastic charity that provides Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS), responding to patients who have suffered trauma or serious medical emergencies. They rely almost entirely on donations from people without your kind support, they simply could not continue with their life-saving work.

We are pleased to say that we raised £800 for this fantastic cause. Thank you again to everyone that attended and for your kind donations and we hope to see everyone again for next year’s Morrisons golf day.
