Karen Grimm appointed Surrey Regional Co-ordinator of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE)

We are delighted to announce that Karen Grimm, a Senior Associate Solicitor in our Private Client team in Woking has been appointed the Regional Co-ordinator of the Surrey Region of the national association of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE). Karen is a vital member of our elderly client solicitors team and we are thrilled with this news.

SFE are an association of lawyers who specialise in legal services for older people which was set up by a specialist group of lawyers to support and make a difference to older and vulnerable people. Members of SFE have experience in this legal sector and are required to have spent a substantial amount of time working for elderly clients. The aim of the national association is to improve the knowledge and service provided for older people and their carers on legal issues, such as tax planning, wills, powers of attorney, long term social and health care as well as other retirement issues.

Karen will be responsible for running the Surrey branch of SFE. Her role will involve holding meetings with other SFE members to discuss elderly client law as well as organising training sessions. Karen will make sure local solicitors have the requisite knowledge to be able to give the best legal advice to their clients as well as being the main contact with the national group to ensure that information is passed to the local members. Karen will also liaise with local organisations to raise awareness of elderly client issues and be a key point of contact for legal advice in this area.

Karen commented on her new role saying –

“I have been specialising in legal services for older people for many years. I am looking forward to my new role as Surrey Regional Co-ordinator. This means that I will be able to continue my development in this area, as well as helping other legal professionals to do the same, so that I am able to give both my clients and colleagues first class legal advice in a field of law which is constantly evolving, as the requirements of the elderly population change.”

We are delighted for Karen as she steps into this role at SFE where she will be able to continue to develop her knowledge surrounding elderly client law and assist other professionals in this area.
