Poki is a Solicitor in our Court of Protection department. Poki works on complex and high net worth Court of Protection matters.
Having worked within the local authority for several years, she then successfully transitioned to private practices ranging from a small high street firm, medium sized private practice, and then a multi-national firm.
Poki previously worked within Adult Social Care, gaining experience in financially assessing domiciliary, direct payments, residential, and deferred payment funding matters.
She then moved onto the legal team within the local authority, and specialised in litigation matters made on behalf of the Council. She ensured safeguarding vulnerable adult matters, social care assistance matters (financial abuse matters involving DWP appointees), and deprivation of capital matters were appropriately dealt with.
Poki previously worked at a Top 200 firm within their Court of Protection department, where she qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in September 2018, and qualified as a solicitor in June 2019.
Prior to that, Poki worked at a Top 25 firm based in Chichester, specialising in Elderly and Vulnerable Client Court of Protection work. Poki was responsible for caseloads (two Partners at Panel Deputy Level) involving the management of Deputyship and Attorneyship files, particularly on high net worth and complex client matters.
Highlights
- Contested a DWP benefit matter and recouped 22 months of benefit repayments back to the client.
- Challenged CHC funding decision and successfully backdated the clients care funding for an additional year
Poki is passionate about working in an area of law where she is looking after clients who don't have the capacity to manage their own affairs.
Interests
Outside of work Poki's hobbies include, running a comedy night, photography, and baking.
She is bilingual, speaking English and Cantonese. She previously volunteered as a translator and A-level Tutor (Subjects: Business, Accounting, Economics, and Media Studies)
