A reminder that we need to always keep an eye on costs in family law proceedings and what is known as “proportionality”; how much is being spent on the proceedings against how much the parties are seeking to gain by the proceedings.
Mr Justice Holman has criticised a couple for “tearing itself apart” as they argue over the family assets worth £50m. They have spent £700,000 on legal costs already and the case has not yet reached Court. The Judge described the situation as “extremely tragic” and “unedifying”.
