From today, business will be required to permit qualifying employees to take 18 weeks unpaid parental leave per child instead of 13 weeks. In addition, employed agency workers will also have the right to request flexible working on return from parental leave.
In our experience, not many employees choose to take parental leave because it is unpaid. However businesses will need to be aware that employees can now ask for more leave although employees are only able to take up to 4 weeks per year.
Please contact any of the employment team
if you require further advice on parental leave or would like a parental leave policy to ensure that the company can deal with its obligations if such leave is requested or call us on 01737 854 500 or email [email protected]
