In March 2014 we reported that draft Regulations for Shared Parental Leave and Statutory Shared Parental Pay had been published (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/shared-parental-leave-and-pay-draft-legislation ). On 21 July 2014 the draft regulations with no major amendments were laid before parliament. Two further sets of Regulations are still awaited.
The Regulations allow qualifying new parents to take Shared Parental Leave between them and receive Statutory Shared Parental Pay from their employers. The Regulations are quite complex and so the government has now published guidance to assist employers and employees with understanding the new rules.
