Morrisons Solicitors have just announced the winners of their £1,000 charity competition which took place over the last four weeks.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham were the proud recipients of a £500 cheque, presented by Morrisons Managing Partner, Paul Harvey.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice is the only adult Hospice caring for terminally ill people and their families across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire, both at the Hospice and in the community.

Morrisons Solicitors has offices in five locations: Redhill, Woking, Wimbledon, Camberley and Teddington. This year the staff of each office has selected a local charity that they would like to support for the next 12 months through office fundraising. In addition, to celebrate the launch of their new website www.morlaw.com, the solicitors firm put up £1,000 to be donated to local charities, but asked for the communities’ help in distributing the money. Over the course of the four weeks, hundreds of people voted for their favoured local charity, with Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice coming out firm favourite with over 43% of the vote.

The four runners up: Merton Mencap, Teddington & Hampton Wick Voluntary Care Group, Woking & Sam Beare Hospices and Relate Mid Surrey will all receive a cheque for £125 just in time for Christmas.

Morrisons Managing Partner, Paul Harvey commented,

“We have been delighted with the number of people who participated in our charity competition and voted for their favourite local charity. I have never been so pleased to give £1,000 away as I know every penny will be spent wisely making a difference to the communities we serve.”
